Power consumers have to pay the electricity bill in installments due to the Covid-19 situation. The minister also said that small interest would be charged on the monthly installments of outstanding electricity bills and steps would be taken to inform consumers about the interest charged in the coming days.
The minister said that, due to the current situation, in the last two months Rs. 44 billion had to be paid to the Ceylon electricity board and even the people who could pay the electricity bill did not pay their electricity bill.
He said that, According to president Gotabaya Rajapaksa's statement, it is planned to increase solar and wind power generation by 70% by 2030 in an environmentally friendly manner.
